This application allows novice nurses and nursing students to search for over 340 common diseases and disorders, separated by body system. Once the disease/ disorder is selected, the user will be able to have useful information right at their fingertips, including a nursing process approach to managing client care. There are simple explanations of what each of the diseases/ disorders are and common assessment findings associated with them. In addition, useful information is included that incorporates priority assessments needed for clients with the selected disease/ disorder. Potential applicable Nursing Diagnoses with related factors and client goals are also incorporated. Appropriate interventions are outlined to help guide client care and encourage a comprehensive approach to managing client care. These can be especially useful when studying for NCLEX examinations, developing client-centered care plans, and in acute care medical-surgical settings. Finally, the nursing process would not be complete without an evaluation. Complications are outlined for each disease/ disorder to help student nurses and novice nurses start to build upon foundations presented through core nursing education classes.

In summary, this application is a reference for nurses and nursing students that utilizes the Nursing Process (ADPIE) for common medical surgical diseases/ disorders in the following ways:

•Gives a brief, simple description of over 340 common medical-surgical diseases and disorders.
• Outlines common assessment findings and potential priority assessments to include in client care.
• Incorporates potential Nursing Diagnoses with related factors for each disease/ disorder.
• Assists with delineating a plan by stating client-centered goals.
• Lists appropriate nursing interventions to implement in a client plan of care for each disease/ disorder.
•States potential complications for the nurse to consistently evaluate and assess for, associated with each disease/ disorder.
•A great resource for clinical application and NCLEX review.

Pros and cons of NurseTabs: MedSurg app for iPhone and iPad

NurseTabs: MedSurg app good for

I am a nursing student and we are just learning to do our assessments and soapie notes. I have found this app useful for the notes and as an overall basic application to use while in clinical setting while learning different nursing diagnosis and what to assess for. Definetly beats carrying around the text book when it comes to charting. Thanks. I highly recommend.
Excellent application for beginner nurses/students! If you are going to download this application you must have the 3.0 software upgrade in order for the app to be compatible with your itouch. Otherwise once you have it on your itouch it is a well organized and useful tool. I strongly recommend any nurse especially new nurses to check it out!
I like this app and is useful. It would be wonderful if it had the rationals to go with the interventions. Then this app. would be all I needed to complete my careplans.
This is a great referance guide, for a quick review. I have been a nurse for about 10 years, but obviously cant know everything. Just a great memory jogger.
I took one look at this and knew I had to have it. As a student learning the nursing process, it helps with my care plans. The only thing its missing is rationales to go with the interventions. Will use a lot!
This app is great!! When giving post conference after my nursing clinicals I always have the best nursing diagnoses and the teacher isnt able to stump me with questions about my patients. I love this!! Although it is brief and lacks a few details and is missing some diseases.... Maybe a future update is near. Till then this app has been worth my $10

Some bad moments

Awesome app... BUT when you get to 3rd and 4th sem of nursing school you realize that its missing alot of diseases and so youll eventually have to rely on other apps to help you. Please provided much needed updates with additional diseases and surgical procedures!!!!!!
I purchased this application in hopes that it would help me with my first year of nursing school. However, after thumbing through a few pages, I realized I knew about 90% of the material. I suppose 3 1/2 years of EMS experience and 3 years of PT will set me up for success!!!! If you need to learn BASIC terms, this will be a benefit to you. Good luck to everyone
I purchased this application thinking it would be a good "back up" guide for when I dont have my 30lb stack of books, but I found it to be somewhat disappointing, as I have searched several times for a disease, which could not be found. Also, I wish there was a little more detail in what is there. It wasnt worth $10 to me, I would rather have put that money toward a more expensive, more effective application.
This has helped me w/ several of my careplans, however, it didnt have as many categories as I had hoped for!
I was excited after reading the other reviews but I can find this info just as quick in my nanda book. Waste of this girls hard earned money:( I was crushed, my first app that I paid for.
I am a first year nursing student and just bought this application as well as the medicine one by the same company. These tabs were both highly recommended by people on your website. I perused the apps quickly and decided to go with the others on your site who overwhelmingly recommended them. Today, I discovered in class that neither of these tabs had any of the information that I was looking for in three of my classes. The drug references are too few and the diseases are extremely brief. I could have gotten more information if I picked up a text book than the info in these two appls. Additionally, the information on both disease and medicines need to have spell check and grammar run. Most importantly, some of the pages that I read today were not correct with the medical information. May I get a refund for both of these apps?
